We’re very excited to share with you our good news! As the title suggests, we won the Ohanarama Family Contest! You can check out our winning family profile here.
Each month, the online social-networking site for families, Ohanarama, hosts a contest in which families virtually compete against each other to earn the highest combined score by participating in games and activities online. We won first place! But participating families weren’t the only winners. In addition to our prizes–a Kindle 3G and $50 Amazon gift card, we also got the opportunity to choose which elementary school or literacy program would be the recipient of a $100-value book donation.
We chose to give the $100-value book donation to New Haven Reads, a Conneticut-based literacy program that helps children and adults, especially those who are more economically and educationally disadvantaged, have access to free books. Ohanarama with Random House Children’s Books donated 50 Magic Treehouse books, written by author Mary Pope Osbourne, to New Havens Reads. These books are very popular amongst kids like us, and are always fun and adventurous to read.
The Ohanarama Family Contest was a really fun experience. Ohanarama is great for us as a family because we are really Internet-based, and we travel a lot. To be able to use this cool, safe, fun, and family-friendly social networking site is a perfect fit for us!
