Archery – One of My FAVORITE Sports!

Have you ever tried archery? You probably haven’t, since it’s not as popular as soccer, football or baseball. You might have seen a scene on the TV…

Do you know how important Sport Science is?

Sport Science is a discipline that studies the application of scientific principles and techniques with the aim of improving sporting performance. Human movement is a related scientific discipline that studies human movement in all contexts including that of sport.

The study of Sport Science traditionally incorporates areas of physiology, psychology, motor control and biomechanics but also includes other topics such as nutrition and diet, sports technology, anthropometry, kinanthropometry, and performance analysis.

My sisters and I are archers, and it is one of my favorite sports besides horseback riding and swimming. My sister JuJu started Archery at 8, and JoJo and I started last year. All of us trained at Halls Arrows in CT.

My sisters and I don’t have our own bow and arrows (yet!)…Do you?

My sisters and I wanted to do archery since JuJu was 6, I was 5 and JoJo was 3. We wanted to because at that age, we went to a homeschool get-together and a boy that was about 16 yo brought his bow and arrow for show-and-tell. He also talked about it—it was awesome! Since then we all wanted to learn archery.

If you don’t do archery then you should ask your parents to bring you to a local archery range. JuJu wants to let you know that it’s a very exciting sport yet calm and peaceful. I want to let you know that it’s awesome and maybe once you start it, it may be one of your favorite sport too! Also, Archery won’t just be a sport you see on TV anymore, but one that you do too! :-)

To get better in any sport, we must all pay attention to the science behind it…we’ll talk more about this in future posts!
