The name of this article might or might not be true, that’s why there’s a question mark…so, it’s really your choice.
Best-Merida of Brave does have an amazing form, and in the trailers I’ve seen so far, she hasn’t missed the bulls-eye! Plus, she’s shot bullseye while riding on her horse, Angus. Although, you can’t compare her to Recurve, Olymipic-Style Shooting Bows, she’s shooting Barebow.
Barebow means, well, it’s a bare bow. Barebows 1) don’t have a sights (the circle that you look through and circle around the yellow circle or the circle with a dot that you put on the very center, ie. the bullseye-the third yellow circle with a + or x in the very center.) and 2) practically never anchor their hand below their chins. I just started shooting beneath my chin just my last class, it was awesome! You anchor your hand under your chin so it could go farther, pretty cool awesome, huh? I even had to use a different finger tab, and I have to make sure the string of the bow touches my chin and my nose, I guess it’s a bit more complicated than my anchor at the corner of my mouth. My mom says “This is the only time you can have your nose in the air.”—I have to put my nose in the air to align the string along my nose and chin. Now back to anchors, I used to anchor beneath my chin, than I changed to the corner of my mouth to shoot close-ups (10 yards), and now back to beneath my chin but with different stuff, it’s weird and awesome both at the same time. Don’t you hate AND love that feeling? I definitely lean on the “love it” side. Hey, when I just typed that, it reminded me of the old pbs show my sisters and I used to watch, Dragon Tales, does that still air? Well, there’s siamese twin dragons and the girl would always say “I Looooovvvvvvvvvvve iiiiiiiittttttt!!!!”—heh.
Oh, so back to archery, I started shooting 13, 14 & 15 yards yesterday, that’s why I anchored low again. I also went though changes with my bow and arrows (that I borrowed, I don’t have my own supplies yet, I’ve went through 3 bows and arrow sets in 2 weeks!-I’m learning to use bigger/heavier bows, it’ll make the arrows go faster. I’ve also made it to the level where I’m using aluminum arrows! 1) they’re super light, 2) they’re super fast, what else could you want!? So, just to let you all know, the bow I use is a 20 pounder and with me at full draw, I’m pulling back 17.3 pounds, pretty precise, huh? So, one day at the archery range we read an awesome article on Brave’s first trailer, “The Prize”, we thought it was written by our coach, Butch Johnson, he’s gone to the Olympics 5 times, and he’s a Gold Medelist, If you want to know more, check out my first Archery Log here. Why did we think he wrote it? Well, all of the crew at Hall’s arrows are just as eager as us for this movie, even the non-movie-watchers, that’s how much they’re into their sport! Butch kept telling us “If you watch the arrow in the video, Pixar sure got it right! The arrows moves back and forth!” ad we’re all like “Yeah, that’s just totally awesome!”. He’s also always telling us how the suitors have really bad form and the little one just got it ’cause he was scared…so click and read!
So JuJu who’s the worst?—I know, I know, I’m getting to that! So, what’s the hottest movie in the US? You’d think lots of work would be put into it to make it worth such a title, one character actually isn’t close to being the best…what topic are we talking about? Oh yeah, archery! Who’s the Archer? Oh yeah, Hawkeye! Believe it or not, actually just believe it because it’s true, Hawkeye isn’t a good archer! Read it to beleive it. What, do you not believe me!?
GiGi had Carvel Ice Cream Cake coupons, we all kept asking my mom for it, but there’s no Carvel Ice Cream Store near us. Then GiGi had an awesome idea! The Carvel Ice Cream Parlor was on the way to the range…If you read our first Archery Log you’d know Butch went to the trials this past weekend…he left in 6th place so we got a Carvel Ice Cream Cake (thinking about it makes me want some!) that said “Congratulations Butch” and we had them draw a Bow & Arrow, it was SO cute and Yummy! He said “But, I didn’t make it!” We replied “You’re a winner to us! We thought you were just going to watch!” We shared it with the Hall’s Arrows Crew and used Mozaik—watch my mom’s blog for a coupon giveaway!

So proud of you, JuJu! These Archery Logs are great.
Funny, and tons to be learned from this sport…you’re so fortunate to have such high-achieving professionals cheering you on and coaching you!
I pray you continue to keep this level of excitement and precision for the sport and details in your logs. I’m just psyched you picked a sport with longevity, and is ~95% mental, with a great deal of tinkering/engineering!

Thank You!
I know! Josh is also an amazing archer! Remember? He made it to the finals! I have to write about that day! It was AWE-SOME!!!
I guess I like both the mental tinkering and the physical…it’s not as easy as it looks! It’ll be fun to help (or even teach) you!
